X24 Custom Smileys Tutorial

Drawing

With Microangelo Animator, draw your base smiley head (in other words, draw a circle). I would suggest you save this file so you don't have to remember how big your standard smiley size is. I recommend drawing in black and white first. Here are more specific advantages with using Animator:

- The actual pixel size view. Animator shows the actual size view of your animated cursor on the top left-hand side of the window. This would help you see your graphic in its true size so you don't have to go zooming in and out. You can actually do the same with Photoshop. Just go to menu View -> New Window to open up a new window of the same graphic you are doing. Then resize it smaller and drag it's window somewhere on the side of the original window you are editing (hmm, instant Photoshop tip!). It's kinda like a picture-in-picture thing.

- Easy painting. If you notice the A and B colors below the actual size view, those are the colors your left mouse button and right mouse button, respectively, can paint. On the colors toolbox, left clicking on a color would set the A color, and right-clicking would set the B color. Since you're initially painting in black and white, use black on A and white on B. Paint with the left mouse button, and "delete" with the right. no more point and click for the erase tool and back to the pen tool. Easy isn't it? No? Whatever.
